The Jiří Menzel Foundation will send a donation to Emma Hůlková for the upcoming short feature film Red and Black, about gambling passion and its impact. It is a film on the border between reality and dream, which charts the fall of the human soul gripped by pathological gambling. The themes of happiness, chance, loss of control and the hope of winning in life are explored. At the same time, a documentary line permeates the film. This filming was preceded by a year of research in therapeutic groups such as Gamblers Anonymous, sessions in Bohnice and Sananim.

Ema Hůlková is a film director and actress, currently studying documentary filmmaking at FAMU. Her works include the poetic reportage about disinformation Behind the Humans (IFF Jihlava 2022, FAMUFEST 2023, IFF ZOOM 2024), A I'm in the Bag - about dying and the issue of making money in the field of oncology and Nežrůžnůž - about laboratory animal testing (IDFF Jihlava 2022 and FAMUFEST 2023), as well as the feature film Dodo Story, nominated for Best Screenplay, Sound and Editing at FAMUFEST 2024.
