Premiéra Cyrana z Bergeracu
Another film that received support from the NFJM is a bachelor film entitled "The Premiere of Cyrano of Bergerac" directed by Rudolf Mašata, who is in his third year at the Department of Editing. The producer is Tereza Havlová (photo).
The main character is Vojta, an elderly man with dwarfism who works as a help in the theatre and has a dream to play the lead role in the famous French drama Cyrano of Bergerac. He has always secretly loved acting, but due to circumstances and his own doubts, he has never fulfilled his dream - until fate unexpectedly offers him the chance to step out of the shadows and onto the stage. That's when he must face his ego and his moral shadow. The story opens up the overlooked topic of the inclusion of disabled artists in the artistic community and thematises personal dignity and the limits of the creative ego. The humor used is full of cultural references. As part of the development process, the creators consulted with noted dramaturg Gaia Meucci-Astley. The Premiere of Cyrano de Bergerac has the ambition to be distributed at international film festivals.
