The unique exhibition "Closely Watched Awards" of director Jiří Menzel was opened at the Písecká brána gallery on September 6 and 7.

September 5, 2025, will mark five years since Jiří Menzel left us. He himself never really displayed his trophies and awards; on the contrary, he kept them tucked away in closets and boxes, and some of his diplomas hung in his guest bathroom. The Jiří Menzel Foundation and his family felt it was appropriate to show these awards to the public for the first time, so that Jiří Menzel would not be remembered only for his well-deserved Oscar. Since 1966, he has collected at least 150 awards, orders, state decorations, statuettes, diplomas, and commemorative medals at home and abroad.
