How to support the documentary series Forgotten Adventurers of Czech History
It is no secret that the Jiří Menzel Foundation has long supported student projects and graduate theses. To date, we have helped 40 projects. This time, we would like to support the creation of a documentary series called Zapomenutí dobrodruzi českých dějin (Forgotten Adventurers of Czech History). Unfortunately, according to the rules of the Jiří Menzel Foundation, we cannot finance a project that is being created in collaboration with a television station (in this case, Prima Zoom). Nevertheless, we are very keen to see this unique miniseries come to fruition.
What is the series about?
Three hour-long episodes will present the stories of six Czech travelers, adventurers, and missionaries who achieved incredible things in their time. They traveled the world, left a Czech mark on diplomatic, scientific, and exploratory missions, and lived lives that are almost unknown today.
It was precisely their "oblivion" that was the main motivation for the author of the project, Josef Kotalík, who wanted to bring these stories back into the public consciousness.
What have the creators accomplished so far? They have filmed over 40 interviews and traveled to Istanbul, Amsterdam, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina to shoot footage. Now they would like to finish filming in the US and also shoot some intimate scenes. However, all of this depends on whether the project receives additional funding.
How can we help?
The only way the NFJM can support the project is to invite the public to participate in the ongoing crowdfunding campaign. The campaign runs until December 19 and provides a clear and detailed explanation of the entire project.
