These words could be used to describe the story of Martin Pešek, one of the youngest artists whom the Jiří Menzel Foundation has decided to support. He is only 55 years old.

He has dedicated his life to acting, dance, and choreography. For example, he contributed to the choreography of the musical *Joan of Arc* and has collaborated with leading Czech performers such as Jiří Korn, Dara Rolins, Ilona Csáková, and Lucie Bílá. As a dancer, he has appeared in a number of well-known musicals—*Cats*, *Dracula*, *Jack the Ripper*, *Desire*, *Baron Munchausen*, and *Joan of Arc*. He also gained acting experience in black theater, with which he toured Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina, and other countries.

Today, however, everything is different. A treacherous illness has confined him to bed. He is unable to stand, walk, or even feed himself. Unfortunately, his condition is irreversible, and the hope for improvement is minimal.

We are therefore grateful that, through the Jiří Menzel Foundation, we can at least ease his difficult situation with a regular monthly contribution. Every artist deserves dignity, even when they can no longer stand on stage.
