Alfred Strejček

Alfred Strejček (* November 24 1941, Prague) is a Czech theater and film actor, presenter, and reciter.

He studied drama at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. During his career, he has appeared as a guest performer in the operetta ensemble of the Oldřich Stibor Theater in Olomouc and in Prague he has worked at the Jiří Wolker Theater, the Maringotka experimental theater, the Divadlo za branou theater, and the E. F. Burian Theater. He also made a name for himself as a reciter, particularly at the Viola poetry wine bar and in the television series Chvilky poezie (Moments of Poetry). For fifteen years, he presented live broadcasts of the jazz series Hudební studio M. (M. Music Studio) on Czechoslovak Television.

In 2017, he fell ill with Guillain-Barré syndrome, which left him paralysed. After a year in hospital, he continued his rehabilitation in Kladruby and since 2020 he has been staying at the Charlotta sanatorium in Prosečnice. However, patients pay for their stay at this facility entirely themselves, which is very expensive. Unfortunately, Mr. Strejček has no other option but to stay there long-term.
